Airport transfer is included, so no need to worry about arranging transportation. Enjoy your first night in Hanoi as you prepare for the exciting adventures ahead!
Begin your day with an early breakfast at the hotel. Between 6:30-7:00 am, our driver will pick you up to begin the journey to Sapa. Travel along the highway to Lao Cai City, with a short break en route, arriving in Sapa around 1:00 pm, where you’ll be greeted by the vibrant traditional attire of the H’mong, Dzao, and Tay ethnic groups. After a welcome drink and a briefing on the itinerary, enjoy a lunch of local Vietnamese dishes before checking in to your hotel. In the afternoon, we’ll hike downhill to Cat Cat Village, nestled in the Muong Hoa Valley. Take in the breathtaking views of the valley and Fansipan, the highest peak in Vietnam. Visit the traditional stilt houses of the Black H’mong, where you’ll observe weaving, embroidery, and other local crafts. Continue to the picturesque Cat Cat Waterfall, a perfect spot for photos, before heading back to Sapa for dinner. The evening is free to explore Sapa Market and the town. Overnight in Sapa.
Note: There is no guide on the bus from Hanoi to Sapa.
After breakfast, begin your trek at 8:00 am, exploring another part of the Muong Hoa Valley. Trek through lush rice terraces to reach Lao Chai Village, where you’ll experience the daily life and traditional culture of the Black H’mong people. Continue on to Ta Van Village, home to the Tay minority, who are influenced by Chinese culture. After the trek, take a bus back to Sapa. You’ll have some free time to relax before boarding the bus back to Hanoi around 2:15 pm. Arrive in Hanoi between 8:45 and 9:15 pm, check in, and unwind for the night.
After breakfast, our mini-van/bus will pick you up between 8:30-9:00 am to begin your journey to Halong City. Enjoy the scenic 3.5-hour journey through the rural countryside. Upon arrival at the port, board an authentic Chinese Junk and embark on a cruise through the breathtaking Halong Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A lunch of fresh seafood will be served on board. Explore the “Amazing Cave” and enjoy a swim in the serene emerald waters. As evening falls, the boat will anchor in a tranquil area where you can savor dinner and watch the sunset. Afterward, you can swim in the phosphorescent waters, relax in your cabin, or sleep under the stars on the top deck. Spend the night on the boat, surrounded by the beauty of Halong Bay.
Rise early to witness a stunning sunrise and breathe in the fresh ocean air. Breakfast will be served on the boat as you continue cruising through the bay’s stunning islands. Visit a floating fishing village to learn about the local fishermen’s way of life. After lunch on the boat, return to the Halong City pier and travel back to Hanoi, arriving between 3:30-4:00 pm. After checking in at your hotel, you’ll have free time to explore Hanoi’s Old Quarter, sample local street food, or shop for souvenirs. Overnight in Hanoi.
After breakfast, your guide will pick you up for a city tour of Hanoi. Begin with a visit to Tran Quoc Pagoda, located on Golden Fish Island in West Lake. This pagoda is the oldest in Hanoi, built in the 6th century. Next, visit the Ho Chi Minh complex, where you can see Ho Chi Minh’s embalmed body and explore the gardens and houses where he lived and worked.Explore the distinctive One Pillar Pagoda, a shrine dedicated to the Goddess of Mercy. If your tour falls on a Monday or Friday, when the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is closed, an alternative itinerary will be provided. Afterward, visit the Vietnam Ethnology Museum to learn about the country’s 54 ethnic groups, or if it’s a Monday, the Women’s Museum instead. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, followed by a visit to the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university. Conclude your tour with a visit to Hoa Lo Prison, used by French colonists and later by North Vietnam during the Vietnam War. The tour typically ends between 4:00-5:00 pm.
Your guide will drop you off at your hotel or, for an additional charge of $35 USD (for up to 4 people), arrange transportation to the airport. You should arrive at the airport around 5:00-6:00 pm. The Sapa trekking on this tour is moderate difficulty and suitable for most fitness levels with basic preparation. Day 2 - Cat Cat Village trek: Downhill hike covering approximately 2.5km over 2 hours, more like a walk through villages than strenuous hiking Uneven terrain with some stairs and potentially slippery paths (especially if it's been raining) No prior trekking experience required - many travelers describe it as "easy" compared to serious mountain trekking Day 3 - Lao Chai & Ta Van villages: Trek through rice terraces with moderate ups and downs Typical duration is 4-6 hours, requiring good endurance but not advanced hiking skills Trails can be muddy and slippery, so proper footwear with good grip is essential What you need: Comfortable fitness level (ability to walk 2-3 hours with breaks) Good hiking shoes or boots (rentable in Sapa) - avoid sneakers which can be slippery Bring lots of water, sunscreen, and be prepared for sun exposure and steep paths Not recommended for: Those with serious mobility issues or unable to walk on uneven surfaces Very young children (under 6) who tire easily Good news: You can arrange vehicle-based tours instead of trekking if needed - Sapa can be enjoyed without trekking
